ARTISA welcomes artists and creative writers to stay and work so that they may apply singular focus to their art practice.

For our open retreat we invite writers, visual artists, photographers, playwrights, designers, curators and professionals working in theatre, dance and film at the conceptualization or research stage of a project. Whether you’re a seasoned artist or just discovering your talent, Artisa invites you to paint, sculpt, and create with abandon. Who want to boost their own process and are looking for more depth.

At ARTISA, art and science are both perceived as innovating creative processes that flourish in the right space, environment, company and support. Whether you come alone or with a group, you can create new work, research innovative ideas and experiment with different techniques and modes of production.

We provide workspace and easels. Visual artists bring their own brushes and materials. On request we can provide painting/ drawing materials (cost price). If you like we can create meetings where you receive feedback on your work from us and other participants. We also organise events where artists can present their work and discuss their methods of working. Feel free to send us an e-mail if you would like to get more info about the programme.

We would like to keep ARTISA Academic & Art Retreat accessible to both emerging and established artists. If payment is a hindrance for you to participate in our artist retreat program, in some cases we offer reductions in exchange donation of work. Contact us if you would like to discuss this possibility. In this case we would like to see some work samples.

‘ I’m so glad that my path in life brought me here to Artisa in Italy. I’m forever grateful for your kindness, warmth, exquisite cooking, yoga, laughter, encouragement. You have created a sanctuary of beauty & creativity. Unforgettable.’ Sasha B. visual artist, USA

I arrived very stressed and left after 8 days as a reborn woman! The peace and beauty of the place, together with the heartwarming welcome, immediately brings you into another world. After a frustrating year at the Art Academy, the desire to create has returned. Especially the uplifting conversation with Celeste and the inspiring environment without performance pressure has given me new insights and possibilities’. C. N., Visual artist, B

‘The arrival was overwhelming. Much more intense than I had expected. An enchanting setting,  and at the same time a feeling of coming home. That to me is Artisa.
In terms of work I am much more productive than I am at home. In 2 weeks I write an amount that would take me 6 weeks at home. And at the end of the day, here, I’m still relaxed and energetic. What else can one wish for…’
Walter Lucius, professional thriller writer. He worked on the second book of his heartland trilogy.

‘De rust en de omgeving waren overweldigend, het gezelschap meer dan aangenaam en ik was enorm productief. En uiteindelijk, na presentaties van mijn werk en heel enthousiaste reacties, ging ik naar huis met het idee: mensen worden blij van wat ik maak, het heeft belang wat ik doe. Dat gevoel heb ik zelden, ik ben heel dankbaar dat ik dat in Artisa heb gevonden.’ Cynthia Helena, schrijver en schilder.

I returned home with a series of new paintings after a very inspiring week in Epidavros. The mix of my love for Greece which I put into my art but also the company of others, the beautiful quiet area by the sea, experience how a writer is focussing on his goal, this all together gives a lot of energy to work. Hope to come back!’ Nancy Kroon, beeldend kunstenaar

‘Wat een geschenk om ongestoord in mijn eigen ritme te kunnen werken, in dit exotische paradijs, omgeven door zoveel schoonheid. En ondersteuning te ervaren door anderen die ook aan het werk zijn.’ Angeline Lips, beeldend kunstenaar
